We just finished another great BFL week. Stefan lost 4 pounds this week. Woohoo! That’s phenomonal! My arms are beginning to get toned.
This was the first week of upping the weights and cardio intensity, and we cut out all tea, coffee and alcohol. Now, I love a glass of wine with dinner, and I like having a cup of coffee when I get to work, so I thought cutting out these favorite things would be miserable. But it was surprisingly easy. Per usual, the end of the week we started getting tired, but doesn’t everyone get tired and look forward to the weekend?

Now it’s Sunday and the Ben & Jerry’s is still in the freezer. For our free day, despite having seen about a million television ads for KFC and drooling for it, we had a bacon, egg, coffee, toast, and hash brown breakfast, we went to Don Jose for lunch and satisfied our craving for Mexican, and then for dinner we grilled some lamb and had a loaded baked potato salad with a bottle of Toasted Head Merlot. Later, we sat around the fire pit, enjoying music and wine and this amazing, amazing cheese spread we sampled at Kroger earlier during the day. The cheese spread is called “Miss Bonnie’s Gourmet Pimento Cheese Spread” and it’s made locally in Richmond and it’s quite possibly the best thing I’ve tasted in a long, long time. Spread that on some fresh bread and take a sip of Toasted Head Pinot Noir and you might just wet your pants.

Later, we had cheesecake in bed, but it wasn’t that good.

I’m hitting the highs in the weight workouts – it is getting very difficult. Stefan is a great coach, though. He pushes me even when I’m begging to stop. It is really, really strange to have your brain send a message to your arm to push a weight, and your arm doesn’t respond.

We are quickly outgrowing the Bowflex. It’s good for upper body workout until the heavy rods are used. Then the end starts to lift off the ground as you pull the rods toward you. We’ve got our eye on a 3-person home gym and we should be able to afford it outright at the end of this challenge. Still trying to figure out where to put it. It might be time to trade in the spare room for a workout room. We don’t get many overnight visitors. As Eryk put it, it will be worth it, because this is part of our lifestyle.

We had an excellent workout this morning, and now we’re just chilling for the day, although it’s time to go make dinner. We’re gearing up for another great week. It’s going to be interesting – I’ve got an interview Wednesday morning and a career fair that evening. I had an interview last Thursday, too. We’ll see how it goes.
